Amazfit GTR 3 Pro

Quite a variety of smartwatch choices in the price range of Rp. 3 million. One of them, the Amazfit GTR 3 Pro, which is packed with a sporty design, abundant features, and is marketed at a price of only IDR 3.1 million. Here is the full review in the Amazfit GTR 3 Pro review.

For a smartwatch priced at IDR 3 million, the Amazfit GTR 3 Pro offers many health monitoring features. Starting from monitoring heart rate, oxygen in the blood, stress levels, and so on.
Not only related to health, this watch also brings hundreds of sports modes that are useful for users who want to stay in shape while exercising their daily physique.

Amazfit GTR 3 Pro design

We love the simple, elegant and sporty design adopted by this latest smartwatch from Amazfit. The Amazfit GTR 3 Pro unit that we reviewed happened to be Infinite Black with a smooth polymer strap.
Actually, there is another model of the GTR 3 Pro with a more “wow” design, namely a model with Brown Leather color. As the name implies, this smartwatch is equipped with a brown synthetic leather strap.

Simple and resembling a watch in general, may be the main theme carried by Amazfit when designing its latest smartwatch. The GTR 3 Pro has a look that is somewhat similar to a men’s watch with a simple and sporty look.
The screen is circular and flat with super thin edges. There are two protruding crowns or buttons on the top and bottom right. To be honest, we love the simple and elegant design of the GTR 3 Pro.
Subjective indeed, but this design makes it feel like an expensive men’s watch that fits perfectly with any color of clothing and in any condition.

At the bottom, there are sensors to monitor heart rate and SpO2. The sensor is flanked by two magnetic charging pins.
Overall, the Amazfit GTR 3 Pro that we reviewed is comfortable to wear in various conditions. Thanks to the smooth polymer strap, wearing it when wet from rain or damp from sweat, does not irritate or itchy skin.

The size of the watch that is not too big and heavy is also a plus. Thanks to the rotatable crown, navigation between menus doesn’t just rely on the touch screen. This is a solution when you want to access the features on your watch when it’s raining or your hands are dirty.

Usage Experience

The Amazfit GTR 3 Pro that we reviewed really offers us a special comfort of use. This watch fits perfectly on the wrist. The size is not too bulky or big, but not too small either.

The build quality of the Amazfit GTR 3 Pro is also commensurate with the price offered. Its aluminum body doesn’t look cheap, but it’s also not as special as the Samsung Galaxy Watch4 Classic that we reviewed.
The smooth polymer strap that it carries also doesn’t irritate the skin easily. Wearing sports or getting wet is still safe and comfortable, because this latest Amazfit watch has pocketed a 5ATM rating.

Thanks to the 5ATM rating, the GTR 3 Pro can be wet without worrying about getting damaged. However, this watch cannot survive for deeper water activities such as snorkeling or diving.

Amazfit GTR 3 Pro carries a screen with wide dimensions and high quality. The screen is AMOLED type measuring 1.45 inches with a resolution of 480p which presents bright and vivid visuals.
No need to worry that the information on the watch will be difficult to see when using it in the hot sun. The Amazfit GTR 3 Pro screen has a light intensity level of up to 1,000 nits with a pixel density of 331 ppi.
Besides being able to display top quality content, the screen is also quite responsive. The stunning screen is coupled with hundreds of watch faces that are supported by this smartwatch.

By downloading the Zepp application, we can download and choose various clock themes as we wish. There are so many, Amazfit has presented a watch face theme category to make it easier for users to find their favorite display theme.

Like other smartwatches with AMOLED screens, the GTR 3 Pro also supports the always-on function. There are two display options available in the settings, namely displaying the same watch face as the main page or a standard analog or digital watch face which is more energy efficient.

Specifications and Sensors

Amazfit GTR 3 Pro is supported by a battery with a capacity of 450 mAh with extraordinary endurance. Amazfit claims, this watch can last for 12 days of normal use and 6 days of heavy use.

On our side, the latest Amazfit smartwatch does have amazing battery capabilities but not with its charging speed.

As long as we used it for review purposes, the Amazfit GTR 3 Pro could last for more than a week with always-on health tracking features, such as heart rate, SpO2, sleep tracking, always-on enabled features, and always connected via Bluetooth with a smartphone.
In fact, we are not satisfied with the charging speed. It took approximately 2 hours to fully charge it using a smartphone charger adapter and more than 2 hours to charge it by connecting the charger cable to the laptop’s USB port.

Amazfit GTR 3 Pro is equipped with the latest sensor called BioTracker 3.0 which consists of two LEDs and six photodiode sensors. With newer technology, these sensors can collect data faster and more accurately.
This sensor is very useful for monitoring heart rate, blood oxygen levels or SpO2, stress levels, to sleep quality which includes light sleep, deep sleep, and REM. In addition, this sensor will automatically detect whether you are fast asleep or just resting during the day.

Amazfit GTR 3 Pro Operating System and Features

The Amazfit GTR 3 Pro that we reviewed is already running on the latest operating system called Zepp OS. This operating system is easy to use and makes smartwatches easier to connect to smartphones.

Just download the Zepp application on the Google Play Store or App Store, login, and turn on Bluetooth, the watch will directly connect to the smartphone. Amazingly, there is no need to reset the watch to connect it to another smartphone.
Just sign in to Bluetooth on your watch, then switch devices directly. At the same time, open the Zepp app on your phone and scan for new devices. Automatically, the watch will be connected immediately and the data will be loaded in the application.

With the latest OS, the Amazfit GTR 3 Pro brings a myriad of advanced features beyond health and sports, such as two digital voice assistants for example. Alexa which will work when the watch is connected to WiFi, and an offline voice assistant that will perform basic tasks when the watch is not connected to the internet.
The most interesting feature here is of course the offline voice assistant. It’s rare, you know, that there is a digital assistant feature that can be commanded by voice without requiring an internet connection.
These advanced features can be found via Settings > Preferences, then tap Offline Voice Control. By learning the commands, the watch can be prompted to open apps, control the smartwatch, and activate existing features.

Then, there are sunrise and sunset times, temperature sensors, barometer and air pressure, compass, camera control, voice memo, Pomodoro Timer, and so on.

Health and Sports Features

Supported by BioTracker 3.0, the Amazfit GTR 3 Pro that we reviewed has a complete health tracking feature. Starting from monitoring heart rate, SpO2 or oxygen levels in the body, stress levels, breathing exercises, to sleep quality, this smartwatch can be well monitored.

There is a feature called PAI or Personal Activity Intelligence that takes measurements for 45 seconds as well as an assessment of body health. Measurements taken include heart rate, stress, SpO2, and respiratory rate.
For female users, there is also a feature to calculate menstrual periods. Interestingly, the Zepp OS system can predict when the next menstrual period will occur, the fertile period, and the time of ovulation.

As for sports features, the Amazfit GTR 3 Pro has hundreds of sports modes. Uniquely, there is an eSports mode here that calculates stress levels, heart rate, and calories burned. There are also 8 exercise modes automatically detected by the watch, including walking, running, cycling, treadmill, and so on.
This automatic detection also applies to GPS and GLONASS based tracking. When the user walks, runs, cycles, and other outdoor activities, the tracking will be recorded by the watch and will be displayed via the Zepp application on the smartphone.

After completing the exercise, the system will also provide a series of information, such as oxygen intake, heart rate, duration, calories burned, to the track traversed (if outdoor exercise).

Conclusion

The Amazfit GTR 3 Pro left a positive impression during our review. This smart watch has advantages ranging from design, user experience, operating system, to features.

The design is indeed simple, not as luxurious or as pretentious as other smartwatches out there, such as the Samsung Galaxy Watch4 Classic that we reviewed for example. However, this simple design allows it to match any outfit that we use on a daily basis.

The polymer-based strap is also an advantage of the Amazfit GTR 3 Pro. The material is smooth, looks macho with a patterned texture on the outside, and is not easy to irritate the skin.

The screen of this smart watch is also fairly high quality. The dimensions are wide, the resolution is just right, and is able to display visuals that remain clear even under the hot sun.

The presence of the Zepp OS operating system deserves to be appreciated. Even though it is relatively new, Amazfit has made it so that the OS can function optimally without interference.

However, there are indeed some shortcomings that we feel in this operating system, namely the limited third-party application ecosystem.

The battery sector is also a plus. Really durable battery from this GTR 3 Pro. Unfortunately, its durability is “stained” with the duration of charging this battery for hours.
About the features, no need to ask again. Very complete, mate! There are many health monitoring features with great accuracy and data presentation thanks to the BioTracker 3.0 sensor technology.

Hundreds of sports modes are also presented on this watch. Workout information, body condition, and so on are displayed very well through the Zepp application. What’s more, there is GPS and GLONASS tracking which makes the track while running or walking recorded in great detail.

Well, with a price that reaches IDR 3.1 million, the Amazfit GTR 3 Pro is actually worth buying if you need a smart watch with an okay design and a myriad of advanced features.

But seeing the Amazfit brand which often releases low-priced smart watches, this watch actually feels “overpriced”. Especially if you know that Samsung also sells smartwatches at prices that are not much different, such as the Galaxy Watch4 which is priced from Rp. 2.9 million.
