Clear the Cache in Google Chrome

This Guide will teach you how to clean the cache of temporary Internet files stored by Google Chrome, both in its desktop version and in the Chrome mobile app.

Following are the steps to be followed when clearing the cache in your Desktop Google Chrome Browser:  

Step 1: Open Google Chrome: Its icon is similar to a red, yellow, green and blue sphere.

Step 2: Click on Settings Icon as shown in the picture. It is located in the upper right corner of the window. A drop-down menu will appear.

Step 3: Select More Tool This option is towards the middle of the drop-down menu. Selecting it will cause a drop-down menu to appear.

Step 4: Click Clear Browsing Data. It is in the drop-down menu. When you click on it, the “Navigation data” window will open.

Step 5: Click on the Basic tab. It is located in the upper left corner of the “Navigation Data” window.

  • In case you want to clean the Chrome cache settings, click on the Advanced Settings tab.

Step 6: Click on the “Time interval” drop-down field. It is near the top of the window. When you click on it, a pop-up menu will appear.

Step 7: Click on All TimeIt is in the drop-down menu. By doing so, you will ensure that all files stored in the browser’s cache are deleted.

Step 8: Check the box “Cached files and images”. It is located towards the middle of the window.

  • Uncheck the rest of the boxes on this page in case you just want to clear the cache.
  • In case you want to clean the Chrome cache settings, check the “Cookies and other site data” box as well.

Step 9: Click on Clear DataIt is the blue button located in the lower right corner of the window. This will cause Chrome to remove cache files and images from the computer and browser.

  • In case you have checked the box “Cookies and other site data”, Chrome will also clean any stored version of web pages, which will allow them to be updated the next time you visit them. This option will close the session of most of your accounts.

Now for your Mobile Version of Chrome, there are some changes, just follow the steps given below to get your chrome Cookies data deleted:

Step 4: Touch Clear browsing dataThis option with red text is in the lower left corner of the screen.

  • On Android, touch DELETE NAVIGATION DATA at the top or bottom of the screen.

Step 5: Select a time interval in Android. In case you use Android, touch the “Time Interval” menu near the top of the screen and then From always in the menu that appears.

  • This option is the default on the iPhone and can not be changed.

Step 6: Check the option “Files and images stored in the cache”. It is towards the middle of the screen. This option will clean the images and files of web pages stored in Chrome, which will cause more free space on the phone or tablet.

  • On Android, first touch the ADVANCED tab in the upper right corner of the screen.
  • Uncheck the rest of the options on this page in case you do not want to clear any other navigational data.
  • In case you want to clean the data of web pages stored in the browser, also check the box “Cookies and site data” (iPhone) or “Cookies and other site data” (Android).

Step 7: Touch Delete browsing dataIt is an icon with a red text located towards the middle of the screen.

  • On Android, touch Clear Browsing Data in the lower right corner of the screen.

Step 8: Touch Delete browsing data when prompted. Doing so will cause Chrome to clean the files and images stored in the browser’s cache and phone storage. In case you have selected the option “Cookies, data of the sites”, the stored data of the web pages will also be cleaned and the sessions of the majority of the places where you have logged in will be closed.

  • On Android, touch DELETE when prompted.
