Snapchat video posts are a fun way to share your thoughts and feelings with everyone. Adding a little flair by inverting your video can certainly make even simpler clips interesting to watch. In this article, we are going to show you some of the ways to reverse video for Snapchat posts.
Use Snapchat video filters
The easiest way to get a reverse video to attach to your Snapchat post is to save them using the Snapchat app. The app has several video filters, including one that modifies these videos to play them backward. To do this, you can follow these steps:
Record a video by pressing and holding the circle icon. It can also be done hands-free by holding it down for two seconds and then sliding it to the left. You can stop recording by releasing the recording button or pressing the stop button in a hands-free mode.
Once you’re done, swipe left to activate Snapchat’s various video filters. Keep sliding your finger until you see three arrows pointing to the left flash in the middle of the screen. This is the reverse video filter. You will notice that your video is now playing backward.
From there, you can delete it, save your video to your album, send it to your story, or use the Send To option to choose to send it to your friends.
This method works for both videos you take with the Snapchat app and videos you download from albums on your phone. To edit a video that’s already on your phone:
- Tap the small icon below the record button on the main app screen to open Memories.
- Tap the Camera Roll tab to open your existing phone holder.
- Choose the video to invest in.
- Tap the three-dot icons at the top right of the screen to open the menu.
- Tap Change snaps to open the filter options.
- Swipe left and find the reverse filter.
- From there, you can choose to Send To in the lower right corner to post it on Snapchat or tap Done in the upper left corner to save the edited video to your phone’s memory.
Use of third-party applications
Another option to have a reverse video in your post would be to edit the video using a third-party app before posting it on Snapchat. Although Snapchat already has video filters, it wouldn’t be as comprehensive as an app that does it exclusively.
Some apps you can try are Reverse Movie FX for Android from Google Play or Reverse Video Editor for IOS from Apple App Store. These are popular reverse video maker apps and they are free to use. Once you’re done editing, save the videos and then navigate to them by choosing videos from your Camera Roll in Memories as instructed in the instructions above.
Video editing on PC
Another option would be to edit videos on your PC and then transfer them to your phone. You can also install Snapchat on your PC using BlueStacks so that you can access the video directly from your PC. Use your choice of video editing software, transfer the edited file to your phone, and then share it with the Snapchat app through the Camera Roll tab in the Memories menu.

It can be a roundabout way of doing things, but some of the best video editing apps are on PC and Mac rather than mobile devices. Having all the functions of a video editing suite makes it easy to add different effects to your videos.
Moreover, as mentioned, BlueStacks is an Android emulator for PC that allows you to use Snapchat on your computer. You can refer to the BlueStacks Snapchat installation page and follow the instructions to be able to use Snapchat on PC. From there, downloading edited videos from your PC would be a snap.
Add a little spice
It never hurts to add a little spice to your videos to make them more interesting to the people you share them with. Reversing video is a simple yet quite interesting effect that makes your clips more memorable to those who watch them, and it’s always good.
