The computer is the sensational device of the new era with the parallel speed of an accelerated world. In this digital age, computer peripherals such as motherboard, ROM, RAM, and hard disks play their main role and assembling these devices is simpler than ever, doing wonders even with the partition of hard drives. Experts and hackers are working to facilitate the partition of a hard drive without problems and more easily.
What is a hard drive?
It is remembered as the input and output devices of the computer. A computer’s hard drive is a storage device that stores digitally encoded data in the essential structures of the computer or peripheral devices of the intelligent world. There are different types of drives, such as SATA and IDE hard drives, and although these devices are similar, they offer several advantages. With people confused in hard drive differentiation, it is better to be sure of their needs and for all good reasons. Throughout the operating system and other functional files are stored on the device to make it more operational.
What is Hard Drive partition?
When you open Windows File Explorer, you can find different volumes, such as disk C, disk D, disk E, etc. These are the physical hard drive partitions. We can imagine a hard drive as a big house, while partitions are small rooms in it. We can freely divide the house into multiple rooms, each of which occupies different dimensions so that they can serve various purposes.
Why partition a hard drive?
People are always in trouble with smart devices, but they are not aware of their proper use. Should you partition your hard drive? For home computer users, partitioning a hard drive can be a smart choice. During partitioning, critical data used by a computer is not stored on the same drive. Why is it useful? How about learning the challenges of pre-partition?
- Organize data better
The best reason is this since most people look for them. Partitioning a hard drive in real-time will provide you with several separate logical drives. Thus, in this way, it is possible to create the partition more intelligently.
- Run Different OS on the PC/Laptops
From the expansion of smart technology devices, PCs and laptops have brought the world closer. With electronics in its cost matrix, the operating system requires an independent partition. A different separation can be used intelligently for hard disk partition.
- Reduce cyber threats
With the increasing use of devices, viruses and errors are creating a home on a computer, so it is better to have the software and hardware control management system. In the event of a system attack caused by ransomware or other threats, which may require re-installing the system and deleting the primary partition, data on other partitions have the chance to survive.
- Back up your data effectively
A backup is required to keep the data more organized and secure in case you need to restore data from the hard drive. The data storage capacity is effectively needed to maintain ample storage space.
- Select the appropriate encryption device
Encrypting devices are needed to keep the hard drive more secure and efficient. By partitioning a hard drive, you can securely encrypt a partition while still using other partitions without problems.
How to partition a hard drive in Windows 10/8/7
Windows 7 and later systems have an integrated partitioning tool, Disk Management. To partition a hard drive, you need to reduce an existing partition and divide the extra space for a new partition.
- Go to the Start menu (or search box if there is no Start menu), then type: partitions.
- Click Create and format hard disk partitions from the results.
- Check the columns below. Right-click on the partition that has extra space, then choose Shrink Volume …
- Enter the amount of space to reduce, then click Shrink. Once this is done, a new unassigned column will appear.
- Right-click on the unallocated volume and select New Simple Volume…
- Follow the new simple volume setup wizard. The default setting is generally satisfactory.
- You should now get a new partition on your hard drive.
Please note that:
- If unallocated space already exists, you can skip steps 3 and 4.
- If it is a partition or initial setup of the hard disk, you may be asked to choose a partition style for the new hard disk.
With the partition tool, you can easily delete a partition. However, it is not recommended as you lose important files. If this happens by chance then you need to recover the files from the deleted partition.
