It’s been one of the most important and biggest stories of technology currently, and we all hoped that Apple would be able to pull off the AirPower. But alas, after over a year of expectation, the corporate has canceled the project officially.
AirPower, for those that somehow have incomprehensible its lingering presence within the trade recently, was the wireless charging mat that Apple proclaimed along with the iPhone X in 2017.
The project was supposed to be a future project, however as time began to stretch out, people wondered whether AirPower would ever arrive or not.
People expected more once the recent AirPods update showed mention of AirPower on the box, however, in an email sent to press nowadays, Apple has confirmed that AirPower is no more. The explanations, apparently, amount to the thing being not possible to form.
As Apple’s senior vice chairman Hardware Engineering, Dan Riccio said,
“After much effort, we’ve concluded AirPower will not achieve our high standards and we have canceled the project. We apologize to those customers who were looking forward to this launch. We continue to believe that the future is wireless and are committed to pushing the wireless experience forward,”.
This is quite rare and public hardware failure for Apple, and it’s one which will do nothing to assist recent worries that Apple’s hardware team isn’t firing on all cylinders for the time now. The very infamous MacBook keyboard scenario hasn’t improved recently, with keyboards failing at a rate believed to be above Apple is letting on.
Now that AirPower is officially no more, we need to move on now. The good thing is we’re closing in on iPhone rumor season, otherwise, we’d don’t have much to talk about.
