The non-existent Apple product is the third most recognized in its category

augumentated reality smart glasses

With Apple’s iPhone in trouble like never before, does the technology giant have something in its pocket to be its next big move? For years, a rumor has spread that the company is working on AR smart glass that at least one analyst expects to be bigger than the iPhone. We could see the launch of a product like next year. The pressure on Apple is to offer something spectacular, and this appears in a report written by the research company of Digi-Capital along with Augmented World Expo (AWE).

The report already has Apple as the third most recognized manufacturer of AR headsets along with Microsoft HoloLens and Magic Leap numbers one and two. Not bad for a product that hasn’t appeared anywhere yet. And “Apple’s potential smartglasses” have even surpassed the actual and available version of Google Glass Enterprise Edition, which has recently been updated.

The data was collected through surveys of 776 people, who were allowed to nominate more than one brand. 77% named HoloLens, 67% mentioned MagicLeap and 43% of respondents labeled Apple’s upcoming glasses. Google Glass Enterprise Edition was nominated by 35% of the 776 people interviewed.

According to the report, Apple will offer its smart glasses to the company first. The report also says it is not clear if Apple will deliver a device “tied” to the iPhone, or if it can work independently.

The user of Google Glass ends up being interrogated for three hours after being tossed out from a cinema

In April 2014, Google introduced what was called “Project Glass” by launching a video that shows what life would be like using AR glasses. The problem with the clip was that, while Google called it “One day”, most of the audience thought the product was ready to do everything that Google had shown in the video. And then there were the problems with privacy; Several bars banned AR glasses because they could take pictures on the sly.

A Google Glass user was minding his business and enjoying a movie when, suddenly, a federal agent took him out of the theater and was surrounded by 10 policemen. They interrogated him for three hours because the agent was worried that the crystal bearer was filming the film while wearing the related specs. These were Glass’s prescription versions and he needed to use them to see the film clearly. And I also disabled the internet connection in advance, just in case.

Will Apple glasses suffer the same fate? At that time, the public was not very familiar with the concept of Augmented Reality. Now, many smartphones offer AR functions and Google has just launched an AR version of Pedestrian Maps. When Apple Glasses is ready for public consumption, you will surely be welcomed with open arms.

According to reports, Apple has developed a new operating system for the device called rOS (the “r” stands for Reality).
